Additional Information

Welcome to Alaska with Doc and Dar, your hosts Doc and Doris Palancia, two kids from Brooklyn NY, and Bayonne NJ who love the smell of wood smoke!

We are located in the center most town on the Kenai peninsula,Soldotna, Russian for “Soldier” so named because it was settled by returning WWII G I’s on land set aside in 1947 by the U. S Government for homesteading.

A unique, Private River Fishing experience 4 miles from the City Center, with 100 feet of river bank along the Kenai river fishing from above water platforms, no wading required.

We offer 2 loft style cabins, which are only a 50 yard walk to the river. Each cabin sleeps 4 comfortably or 6, if you know each other real well!

They each are equiped with a full kitchen and bath, cable TV,and Wi-Fi,  an outside picnic table and BBQ grill. There is also a dedicated freezer for each cabin to store your catch as well as a smokehouse on site. And YES, we ARE pet friendly.

Daily and weekly seasonal rates available.

What do we fish for you ask?  Well , it depends on time of year. Mid June to early July, Russian River Red Salmon, Mid July to early August, Sockeye Red Salmon, mid August onward, Silver Salmon. From June onward Trout and of course KING Salmon.

What else is there to do?  Since we are centrally located on the Peninsula, and  as a comfortable home away from home when visiting the many sites on the Peninsula, you are only 7 Miles from  the Kasilof River for early Sockeye Salmon. 63 road miles to Homer and the Homer Spit and views of the Harding Ice Fields. 73 Road miles to Seward and Exit Glacier, and only 123 road miles to Anchorage.

How to get to us:  From Anchorage, 123 road miles along the scenic Turn again Arm, past the Town of Hope, first gold mining town in Alaska, visit the Wild Life Sanctuary enroute along the Sterling Highway to Soldotna. OR Take the RAVN air shuttle from Anchorage to the town of Kenai, a 15 minute flight, the a 15 minute drive to Soldotna.

From Kenai, Take the Kalifornski Highway to Soldotna   Or fly into the City of Soldotna Airport, if you have your own plane.  Once in Soldotna, at the last stop light south of town, take Funny River Road, past the City Airport to mile 4, then a left on Mann Drive. Drive a mile to the intersection on Johnson Drive. Make a left on Johnson then about 4 houses on the right to 33438 Johnson Drive.
